Basics
Before starting your festival submissions, your film has to be submitted according to the project submission and all details of the film must be deposited in this wiki according to the template for studentfilm. Films from the 1st or 2nd year are only supported after consultation with the animation team.
Festival submission and promotion
The BA Animation department offers a one year promotional service to push the graduation films in the festival circuit from the moment of the school premiere until the next year's premiere (July to July). We send all new films to Filmfestival Locarno, Kurzfilmtage Winterthur, Solothurner Filmtage, Animatou and Fantoche. The undergraduates have nothing to do for these specific festivals.
We also send the films previews directly to the festivals programmers mentioned on the list of filmfestivals informing them that the undergraduates will submit all the information of their film. This gives an extra push and connection to the films and direct contact to the department in case of further queries. The undergraduate has the possibility to submit his / her film officially using the information provided on that list. We take over the follow-up with the festivals official selections of our films by providing the screening copies (DCP, mov, mp4) and provide the detailed information needed coming from this wiki. We make visible the selections on our website and our social media channels.
This one year promotional support can sometimes be prolonged upon assessment by the department. Following the one year promotional service, all incoming requests concerning any of our films will either be answered directly or forward to it's authors and/or co-producers. For further information on our promotion, please contact the promotion coordinator.

FAQ
How do I provide a password protected link to a festival ?
Easiest is the create a vimeo account and upload your film there.
Where do I get a DCP ?
If a film is accepted and shown at one of the festivals mentioned above, the department will provide a download link for the DCP and, if necessary, create a USB stick. The USB stick remains property of the department. The existing DCPs can be found in the archive or ask the technical support for special requests.
What happens after 1 year of active promotion ?
It is also important that you deliver us your current email address, as your school email addresses are deleted after graduation. Ideally you should mention it on your own wiki page. All requests from festivals will be forwarded to your private email addresses. The rights to the film do not change.
