Andrea mulls over their being racists in a stream of consciousness, visually supported by an ordinary day in their lives, from turning off the alarm clock to lying down again at night.

Does a racist live a life like ours?

Synopsis

Andrea’s voice guides us through some thoughts, insinuating that we are all racists, Andrea first. Playing on the erroneous clichés around discrimination, such as the belief that no person of respect can be racist, or that black people are dangerous, the monologue brings us a stream of consciousness that is meant to make us reflect in the narration and consider the perceptions of ourselves and others. While listening to the words, the audience is visually led through an ordinary day in life: Andrea shuts off their alarm clock, then gets up, eats breakfast, and brushes their teeth. They take the bus and go to work, stopping on the way for a coffee to go. Lunch out and back to work in the afternoon. A quick drink with friends, home to have dinner, and finally back to bed. So, a racist leads a life like mine, yours, or anyone else’s?
