Out of Home Animation (OoHA)

This summer workshop is all about getting your hands dirty and working experimentally with what you find on site. The workshop takes place in a cabin tucked away somewhere in the mountains of Switzerland. Students bring image- and sound recording equipment, some paper, some tools, and the rest is up to them.

The yearly workshop is an initiative of the Lucerne School of Film Art and Design since 2017, in the spirit of interdisciplinarity and internationality, organized by Animation Lucerne. Maja Gehrig, freelance animator and former student at the Lucerne School of Art and Design, will accompany the artistic processes as project leader.

Goal

The aim is to realize an experimental animation project using nature, the weather, the times of day and the materials and motifs that the local mountain world offers. In contrast to the course, the approach should ideally be with few digital tools. And in any case without internet (there is hardly any reception). The generated electricity must be used in a dosed manner. Groups can get together to work on a project. The final format can be chosen freely: classic film, installation, scenographic realization.

Read the blog posts about the workshops in 2022, 2023, and 2024 on our Blog!

How to take part

The workshop is open to any students interested in animation.
