[https://www.filmschule.de/ Die Internationale Filmschule] is located in Köln, Germany's film and tv hotspot. The BA Film has a [https://www.filmschule.de/lehre/lehrgebiete/vfx-animation/ specialisation in VFX/Animation], which works closely together with the other specialisations (directing, camera, etc...) to learn the basics of dramaturgy, filmproduction, and together create elaborate and fantastic shortfilms. Within industry-standard workflows and programs they learn everything from professional effects-creation to 3D animation. Students can focus more and more on their chosen interests during their studies and further specialise within the area of vfx/animation. In the VFX-seminars, the combination of real images and digitally produced elements are in the focus. From planning, to supervising on-set, to finally reaching the compositing stage, students learn how to implement computergenerated effects, sets, props and cahracters into filmed material. Meanwhile, in the animation-seminars they learn the principles and tools for animating, to later practice the entire pipeline of a 3D-animated film: from character design to rendering.

BA Digital Animation: Digital Animation explores the changing face of a popular art form: bringing images to life. Students explore the fundamentals of animation practice within the latest technological advances and trends: drawing, image making crafts, computer graphics, stop-frame animation, coding, 3D modelling, 2D motion graphics and compositing. These skills are tested through a variety of modern applications such as outdoor projection, virtual reality, augmented reality, film, TV, online video, computer games, the web and mobile apps. The combination of these technical skills with research into the contexts, history and theory of animation and narrative practice ensure both practical ability and critical literacy in Digital Animation students.
