The [https://hslu.ch/master-animation MA Animation] programme is a project-based study and centred around the individual projects of the studens. Animation projects can be:
 +
* production of an animated short film
 +
* a concept for a longer animation format, e.g. a series or a feature film, including the production of a trailer
 +
* an explorative project or expanded animation project, e.g. a research project, or an installation using animation.
 +
Mentoring by guest teachers and in-house lectureres and coaching are individual and growing parts of the programme. We specialise in storytelling and the development of individual and personal styles and stories, close to the animation scene and animation industry in Switzerland.

The standard period of study in the MA Film of the Lucerne University of Applied Science and Arts is 4 Semesters (2 years). This equals 120 ECTS. The maximal duration of the programme is 8 Semesters.

Further information about projects, courses and modules, lecturers and our teaching philosophy can be found on the [https://hslu.ch/master-animation MA Animation] website.

The programme has three specializations: [https://www.hslu.ch/en/lucerne-school-of-art-and-design/degree-programmes/master/film/the-degree-programme/animation/ Animation], [https://www.hslu.ch/en/lucerne-school-of-art-and-design/degree-programmes/master/film/the-degree-programme/short-motion/ Short Motion], and [https://www.hslu.ch/en/lucerne-school-of-art-and-design/degree-programmes/master/film/the-degree-programme/interaktion/ Interaction]. The Students of all three specializations study together and chose from the same courses. Mentoring and coaching are individual and growing parts of the program are composed of eligible courses. We are specializing in storytelling and in documentary forms inside and outside the cinema. We do not specialize in live action films.

The programme of the MA Film can be put together individually by the students in some modules. Some parts of our teaching are clustered into Tracks. Students chose those tracks to specialize in their studies in a certain field (Film Financing; Self-Marketing; Expanded Cinema). The Fachmodule and the Exchangemodule have a list of free elective courses from which the necessary number of units to pass the module can be generated. Those courses are both provided by the MA Film and partly from other study programmes of the Lucerne University of the Arts.

The Programme

The MA Animation programme is a project-based study and centred around the individual projects of the studens. Animation projects can be:

  • production of an animated short film
  • a concept for a longer animation format, e.g. a series or a feature film, including the production of a trailer
  • an explorative project or expanded animation project, e.g. a research project, or an installation using animation.

Mentoring by guest teachers and in-house lectureres and coaching are individual and growing parts of the programme. We specialise in storytelling and the development of individual and personal styles and stories, close to the animation scene and animation industry in Switzerland.

Further information about projects, courses and modules, lecturers and our teaching philosophy can be found on the MA Animation website.
